A Summer Tradition
Green-Fields Swim Club officially opened on July 4, 1957, with the first full season and launch of the swim team taking place in 1958 under the direction of the original Board of Directors, who also served as lifeguards. The first bond was purchased by Bob Budd and the first pool manager was Bill McFadden.
Facilities
- Main Pool with Diving Well
Newly resurfaced in 2021, the 25-meter guarded main pool provides two lap lanes for recreational use during open hours. Our main pool also boasts six lanes during swim team practices and for competitive use during swim meets. Thanks to its large size, this pool offers plenty of room to play or relax on a hot summer day. The diving well features both a 1-meter low dive, as well as a 3-meter high dive. The well is a treasured play area amongst our members, who use it to organize various games, such as water polo and the turtle favorite ‘come on over. - Intermediate Pool
Also known as the medium pool, this pool is perfect for families with younger children and less experienced swimmers. The guarded intermediate pool goes from 2 1/2 feet at the shallow end to 4 feet at its deepest. Our Turtles-in-Training program utilizes this pool as a safe area to teach our littlest turtles proper swimming technique and to develop confident proficient swimmers. - Baby Pool
For our youngest members, we offer an unguarded and securely gated shallow pool that is perfect for children 6 and under. With proper adult supervision, our little ones can enjoy endless hours of safe and secure, splashing fun. If the little ones have had enough of the water, it is just a short walk over to the adjacent gated playground area to swing their way into the evening sunset. - Outdoor Sports with Equipment
From Basketball Courts to Shuffleboard and Ping Pong Tables to Cornhole Boards and a Large Grass Playing Field with Soccer Nets, for those who need a break from the water, Green-Fields offers many land activities. No ball? No problem. All equipment is available free of charge at the Checker’s Desk. Challenge your friends to a shuffleboard match or maybe a little ping pong. More of a basketball fan? We have a full court ready and waiting. Let us not forget the large grassy field with affixed soccer nets, that doubles as a football field to suit all athletic preferences. While, our Cornhole Tournament is one our most popular summer events, cornhole is popular all summer long. As such, we keep a nice assortment of boards available for daily member use. There is truly something for everyone at Green-Fields. - Picnic Area
This shaded oasis is the hidden treasure of our swim club. With more than 40 picnic tables, 12 gas grills, multiple electrical outlets and beautiful globe string lights, the picnic area is perfect for a quick weeknight summer dinner or a large party with friends and family. Our members can be found enjoying each other’s company, occasionally with some adult beverages, on weekends, holidays or any summer day worth enjoying.
